We had a lovely trip around Steamboat Springs on the Wednesday along the Elk River Road.
Our time in Steamboat was relaxing and we took full advantage - though we did not find the Pot shops!
The night we arrived, we ventured into the town and found a reasonable bar to pass the time in and also had some food.
The next day we pottered in the lovely shops on the main street then had a lovely pizza lunch in a local cafe. Home made and cheap!
The afternoon was spent on the Elk River Road which grew ever more 'distressed' until we were basically driving on gravel. Just as well we had a jeep! The scenery was marvellous and the weather just perfect.
The hotel had a lovely pool so I spent a little bit of time relaxing there when we got back, and I had it to myself for most of the time.
The second evening was spent in an Irish bar of all things! We snacked but were not really hungry as we'd had such a big lunch.
We were rather sad to leave our lovely little apartment behind. I'd like to go back there - especially to get a free upgrade!
You can read my review of the hotel.
So on to Denver and the most wonderful scenery again. We hit the highest spots on this wonderfully scenic trip and reached over 11,500 feet on the road. Denver is 'mile-high city' and you can understand why!
